/A little more than 2 years ago my husband and I moved from our cozy (but tiny) appartment in Aarhus, to our lovely house on the countryside in the southern part of Denmark (right above the German border). Many people are curious to know why in the world we would want to move from the second largest city in Denmark to this quiet small town, and to be honest I understand why. Sometimes I ask myself that question too, haha! It’s actually pretty simple: a lot of our family lives down here and a lot of our mutual friends have also started moving back near our hometowns. We wanted to have a lovely house full of light and space to have friends and family coming over all the time, especially since our families live rather scattered across the country. I have 4 (!) siblings, and even have an entire bonus family too. So the last few years it’s actually been us who have hosted Christmas eve and other larger events, since we have most room for all of us now. So even though our 170 squaremeter home seems like too much for two adult, a small dog and a cat we’ve already felt the benefit of our large space a lot of times, especially since I work a lot from home too. Plus at some point we might want to have a kid too.

/ The way I’ve decorated our home is by mixing new and older purchases with vintage finds and in general keeping the style very scandinavian and minimal. I love this clean and tidy look, and to make it less “clinical” I like mixing in natural elements like light or raw wood and green plants. Like I said I also really love adding vintage finds like our old wooden chest that we have on the floor in the livingroom which contains dog toys at the moment. Even though we’ve been living here for more than 2 years, I still find myself redecorating sometimes, and moving things around. I recently gave the wall behind our dinner table a makeover, by hanging up different posters so they create sort of a collage. I ordered my posters from Desenio, and it suits the open space in our kitchen/dining room very well. I’ve again kept the mood in this very calm, simple and scandinavian style. I even tried to incorporate a little bit of colour with the dark green that’s on some of the posters. If you want more basic tips on for example how to perfectly arrange decor and a bunch of posters next to each other, I have some tips in the video in the bottom of this post.

/ A neat, tidy home without too much fuzz is definitely the best environment for me to be present in – especially now that I work o much from home too. Too many colours, cluttered desks and drawers (and also clutter of the ore visible kind of course) makes me un-focused and less productive. I have many things going on all the time and many ideas and thoughts in my head as well, but when people say that those who have a creative mind is often more messy definitely doesn’t suit me at all…. the clutter will steal away my focus and again make me less productive. If you want to read more about how I decluttered our ENTIRE home using the popular Konmari-method, you should read my post about just that right HERE. In short it’s all about letting go of all the things that don’t spark any joy in you. The whole process will even teach you to stop bringing back things that you don’t need in the future. And as a spokesmand of minimalism that’s right up my street, you know.

Good morning. I love the way your home is decorated. I would love to know where some of your furniture comes from and if you have any links to purchase them. I love the Scandinavian look but don’t know where to begin. I live in Arizona, US and the closest IKEA store is about 4 hours away.
