Package-free soaps from Lush.

Buying package-free is getting easier and easier especially when you check out your options online. I like the idea of not harming the environment with the extra production of plastic. In this whole plastic-debate I’d like to enhance the fact, that I find the single-use plastics the biggest problem. The ones that just ends up in landfill. So that’s why I’m trying to switch to reusable products where I can and then avoid the packaging completely where it’s possible too. And that’s where these soap bars come into the picture! They have become a favourite, and they make it easy to quit the plastic bottles. Btw, this post is not sponsored whatsoever.

I’ve bought a couple of different soap bars: a couple of shampoos (rich lather and NO greasy film is left on your hair whatsoever), a couple of body bars, one for my face to wash of makeup and then a couple of hand soaps. We’re covered that way, I think. Of course it’s a personal matter how many products of this sort you think you need, but one thing is for sure and that’s the fact that I’m done with chasing these 6-step skincare routines, hair routines and what not. I think this mindset has been creeping up on me because I’m done with trying to maintain a perfect look. Surely I look after myself and my body to stay clean and look well-presented, it’s not about that. But I think it’s healthy to let go and teach yourself to be fine with having fewer things available. You just relax a bit more when you don’t care as much, you know what I mean?

Anyway, the soap bars arrived in a cardboard box and the packing peanuts inside are made from Corn so they are 100% bio-degradable. When it comes to storing the soaps you have some different option. You could either invest in a couple of tin-containers from Lush as well, to protect the soaps under the shower. You could also remove them from the shower cabinet completely once you’re done and then keep them on a plate or something similar in a drawer in your bathroom. Lastly you could do as we have done, and that is putting up a shelf that is placed high enough for you to be able to reach the soaps, but also in a height that will ensure that no water from the shower will drench them. That works really well! We have placed our soaps in small glass bowls on this shelf. I’ve been in contact with an insider from Lush who ensures me, that all the ingredients in their products are from natural origin and that the scents are too. That’s a thing I’d like for Lush to reconsider: making more products without any scents or parfume at all (like my face wash bar), natural or not. Just so that they have a bigger selection for those with perfume allergies and super sensitive skin. After the shower I like to apply my oil from Meraki on the ends of my hair as a leave-in conditioner and on my body as well and then I apply some of my homemade face oil. That’s all the steps I need in my daily pampering routine!
