/ As most of you have already noticed both because of my lack of presence on my platforms, but also the occasional “I feel terrible” snaps I have posted on my Insta story the last couple of days, I have been knocked down with a flu of this week. You probably know that I have quit my current position as design assistant, but I’m in the office part-time through August. I almost only just reached the office on Tuesday, but just before lunch I had to return back home and hide under the covers because I was feeling so bad. Throughout the morning I had pain in my throat and my body was aching and it was getting worse and worse as the day progressed. I rarely get a fever when I’m sick but when it comes, I’m not in doubt, haha .. And when I got home and checked my temperature, I did also in fact have a high fever.

I also had to swing by my doctor because I have had a coli bacterium in my stomach which I unfortunately acquired on our vacation in the United States, so we just had to make sure it had nothing to do with that. Fortunately, everything looked normal, so I could just go home and enjoy my virus-based flu. But as I also told my husband the other day, our home is really a great place to get over a flu. You know, if you HAVE to have one.

/ I have no miracle cure for how to recover fast from a flu. I think it’s important that you just allow yourself to be sick. Often, I dont really have the energy for anything else anyway – at least I didn’t this time. I have had so much pain in my throat and body that I couldn’t really do anything than just lay here. You guys know we have our beautiful dog Oskar, and I have taken him for a walk at noon every day just to get out and get some air. It’s not much food I’ve been able to eat, but my husband has made fresh vegetable juice with ginger for us every morning, and I’ve also just made sure to drink lots of water. Sweating out the fever is really hard on the body!

As the fever was almost gone, I changed our bed sheets and hung our covers out in the fresh air all day and then I also washed some clothes. It was nice to get up and just move around again. It seems sometimes it can be hard to judge if you are feeling ill because you are in fact still ill or because you have been inactive for so long! But, of course, the thermometer does not lie and it was really hard to shake off the last bit of fever. I also took time to do some of the little things I’ve been postponing for a while – tidy up af few drawers he and there. I especially cleaned out some of our bathroom drawers – not that they were too bad to start out with. But I’ve been wanting to swap many of our old products with more eco-friendly ones for a long time, and not least just settle with even fewer products than we already have. But more about that later! Now, at least I (almost) feel like myself again, and I can’t wait to return to my normal everyday routines again. Have a nice weekend <3

Hi Signe! Hope you feel better soon! You defo have an amazing home to recover! I love it how you said “my husband” so casually hehe. I got married a few months ago and i still find it odd to call him hubby 😛
Btw, loved the video where you show us your home, could you do a post regarding your favourite places to shop for home stuff? Im looking at those striped place mats and they look incredible! I have a fingerjoint table, and looooved the way the wood looks on its own, but maybe if had some great place mats i woudnt bother putting them away every day. XX

I so agree that it is best to just allow ourselves to be sick; to try to keep on with a regular routine is just exhausting and probably delays recovery. Rest is what the body needs when it is stressed from illness, and it helps us psychologically, too, I think; resting feels like we’re giving to ourselves, which is what we need when we are weak. Thank you for confirming this truth through your experience! I’m so glad you are feeling better (but sorry about the e. coli!)
