I'm not going to lie, this is not how I look on most days right now being on maternity leave. But I will say, there are little things I like doing style-wise to make me feel a bit more put together, things that simply spark joy and makes me feel good. Even when I'm not going anywhere. It's kinda like making your bed every morning although knowing you're not actually going to spend time in the bedroom and appreciate it, and you're going to mess it up again later anyway 🙃 You still do it because it makes you feel good and it's a nice way to set the tone for the day.⁠

A good pair of jeans, a t-shirt or jumper, a little bit of makeup and a handful of jewelry is often enough for me. What are some of your favourite style/selfcare routines you like to stick to, even if you're not going anywhere?

An old outfit that I'd love to repeat any day 🍂 styles I've loved for years and that are still strong staples in my wardrobe:⁠

1. A utility jacket⁠
2. A breton striped top (if you scroll through my feed I think it's quite obvious how much I love these lol)⁠
3. A pair of skinny jeans⁠
4. Leopard print flats (or anything leopard print basically)⁠
5. A good old practical shopper bag

An outfit with my baby bump that I completely forgot to share before the little one decided to arrive 🙃 would love to wear this again though, bump or not! Maybe with a jumper instead of the t-shirt for extra warmth though. 🍂

5 WAYS TO SHOP YOUR OWN WARDROBE THIS AUTUMN 🍂⁠

As you might know, one of my favourite things about having a capsule wardrobe is being able to "shop" clothing from my own storage of items hidden away from previous seasons. It's funny how you can trick your mind like that, right? Here are some other ways you can pursue a more sustainable way of updating your wardrobe this season (without shopping!):⁠

1. LAYERS. Wear your denim jacket under your wool coat, your favourite classic shirt or bow neck shirt under your jumpers, or tie your jumper around your neck as a fun substitute for a scarf. Play around with the layers and have fun!⁠

2. CONTRASTS. Mix the different style directions you might have in your wardrobe like edgy+feminine or try mixing materials and colours you wouldn't normally pair together.⁠

3. RECREATE INSPIRATION. Turn the outfits you save on instagram or Pinterest into your own by recreating them with items from your own wardrobe. It's a fun way to feel inspired and reassured that "hey, what I already have is actually enough!"⁠

4. STYLE IT 3 NEW WAYS. If you've got an item in your wardrobe you feel a bit unsure of or that you simply tend to always wear the same way; try styling it in at least 3 new, different ways. This is also something you could think about in the future even before you even buy!⁠

5. DIY. Turn an item you already have (but never wear) into something else or give it a fun update. You can also buy an old curtain in a thrift store and let the creativity flow! Autumn is a perfect season to get crafty 🍂 I’m thinking about making a festive dress for myself and a matching one to baby E this holiday season! 👶🏼

I've said it before but this jumper is hands down the item from my wardrobe I have worn the most the past couple years! I wear it at least once a week and by a quick scroll through my feed you'll quickly notice that this is in fact true 🙃 So to honour my love for the grey sweater I've styled it 3 ways:⁠

1. As a "scarf"⁠
2. With beige (gotta LOVE grey & beige)⁠
3. With a suit (and with a white tee peeking through at the neckline)⁠

Let's talk body changes 💭 I didn't intent to buy new jeans or pants post-pregnancy. To be honest I thought I'd just wait it out and see when I'd be able to pull up the ones I already have... Wearing what you already have is the most sustainable thing, isn't it?⁠

But after thinking it through this past month, I realized there's no point in putting any pressure on myself "bouncing back" into my old body shape. Because you know what? It might never happen. And I'm fine with that. I feel more alive and happier than ever. My body has done amazing work during pregnancy and I would do it all again for my little human. ❤️ As one of you guys wrote to me the other day - it's not about fitting into a certain size or number on a scale. Regaining my strength and be able to get back to a healthy (not unrealistic) fitness level is what matters to me.⁠

So. I've bought a few new jeans and pants, two sizes larger than what I was able to wear before. And I feel AMAZING. I've missed wearing something else than worn out secondhand maternity jeans and sweatpants this year! 😅⁠

I guess what I'm trying to say is let's be more gentle not only on each other when it comes to changing bodies (especially in the discussion on sustainable/lasting fashion), but also on ourselves. Body changes are a natural part of life. With that said, I've turned to one of my fave ethical jeans brands (tagged) and found a couple styles similar to some of the faves I used to wear - fits that I have loved for years, and that I know will bring me lots of joy and wear. ♻️
