FIND YOUR BEST COLOURS
what is colour analysis?
Why is it that some colours make us look vibrant and attract compliments, while others can make us appear tired? And how can we use colour more intentionally—in our everyday lives, in our professional environments, and in the way we present ourselves to others?
These are just some of the things you learn in a colour analysis. Learning what colours suit you best will enhance your natural beauty – your skin, hair and eye colour will become more radiant, and it becomes much easier to build a wardrobe that you actually love.
why colour analysis?
My fascination with colour analysis began many years ago when I was a little girl. I often sat flipping through my mother’s copy of Colour Me Beautiful by Carole Jackson. Even though I didn’t fully understand what the book was about at the time, there was something almost magical about seeing how different colours can affect us as individuals.
Now—almost 30 years later—I’m a trained Colour Me Beautiful consultant myself. For more than three years, I’ve helped 1000+ clients discover their best colours: colours that enhance their natural radiance, boost their confidence, and make it easier to make thoughtful choices in their wardrobe so their clothes will actually be worn—rather than ending up forgotten at the back of the closet. I’ve experienced the difference firsthand, but I’ve also had the privilege of working with so many clients that I can truly see just how transformative the right colours can be.
how does a colour analysis work?
During a colour analysis I will assess your hair, skin, and eye colour as a whole, and look at how these harmonise with different colours. Through the method of draping – placing sheets of fabric in different colours under your chin – you will get to experience firsthand just how powerful wearing colours that match your natural features can be. A consultation takes between 1-2 hours depending on whether you’ve also booked me for a makeup session or not.
During the analysis, we identify the colours that:
- make your skin look clearer and more radiant
- make your eyes pop
- give you a natural, healthy glow
the theory of colour analysis
The theory of colour analysis has existed for about 40 years, and it originates from the idea that your appearance fits into one of four seasons: winter, spring, summer or autumn. If you are a winter, your colouring will be clear, cool and contrasting – just as the nature around us will be, when it’s cold, dark and everything is covered in white snow. If you’re an autumn on the other hand, your look will be warm and golden, just like the leaves falling from the trees – and this will then be your guide towards your best colours.
Over the years colour analysis has shifted slightly, which allows for different nuances of analysing today. I work with the Colour Me Beautiful tonal system, which is a development of the classic season colour types. This system offers a flexible way of analysing colour because rather than choosing between seasons, you “mix & match” between the three properties of colour: depth, undertone and clarity. Your colour type and your best colours will then be based around these factors.

the different colour types
The Colour Me Beautiful tonal system is based on six dominant colour types: light, deep, warm, cool, clear and soft. This basically means that we all have something about our look that will be more dominant, and we will then build the main part of your colour palette based on that. From there, I build further by identifying secondary characteristics to your colouring. These are factors that are less prominent, but still of importance – it’s what really allow us to finetune your palette to your unique look. For example, I’m a SOFT (dominant) cool+light (secondary colours). See how flexible it is? So of course we’re not restricted to the 6 dominant colour types only – with the mix & match approach of tonal analysis we actually have 24 different types in total!
Let’s take blue as an example on how we determine your best colours. All colour types can wear blue – it’s just a matter of what version of blue to go for:
what are the benefits of colour analysis?
Color analysis isn’t just about finding your best colours for clothing and makeup – it’s about giving you practical tools you can use in your everyday life, so you can buy less, choose better, and feel more confident in what you wear.
- choosing clothes & makeup becomes easier
- you avoid unnecessary purchases
- your wardrobe becomes more cohesive
colour analysis and capsule wardrobe
Color analysis is a powerful tool if you want to build a capsule wardrobe and adopt a more conscious approach to fashion.
When your colors work together:
- creating outfits becomes easier
- fewer pieces can be styled in multiple ways
- you get more wear out of your wardrobe
In short – it’s a key part of building a slow fashion mindset.
is colour analysis for you?
Color analysis is for you if you:
- are curious to learn which colours suit you
- are tired wasting money on clothes and makeup that doesn’t feel quite right
- want to buy less, and make better choices
- are looking for a more intentional approach to your style
Personal preference will always play an important role in how you dress, and color analysis is simply a tool to help you make more informed choices.
Some people prefer a more intuitive approach to style and don’t necessarily notice a big difference between colours. But if you’re anything like me, narrowing down the endless possibilities actually makes getting dressed easier—and the difference becomes very clear.
professional colour analysis
A professional colour analysis gives you a precise and highly personalised result that is difficult to achieve on your own—even with digital tools or AI.
I am trained and certified through Colour Me Beautiful (2021), and in 2023 I received a Bronze Certificate of Achievement for outstanding performance, following more than 1000 successful client consultations.
I have also collaborated with internationally recognised brands. In 2024, I was booked by Uniqlo to host drop-in colour analysis sessions in their flagship stores in Copenhagen and Stockholm.
