A while back I asked you guys over on Instagram, if you would be interested in me doing kind of n outfits wrap-up post for this year. And you were rather hooked on that, so I thought it would be a fun way to wrap up the year in here. This will be the last post I publish before taking a nice, much-needed Christmas break. I’m not sure how active I’m gonna be on my social platforms during my break, but do swing by my Instagram if you have a little time because I’ll probably share a few everyday snippets over there. My brain really needs that break and I’m sure many of you guys feel the same.
It kind of feels like for every year that pass, I feel more and more comfortable with my style. I’m about to head into my 4th year with the capsule wardrobe system, but oddly it feels like I’ve been doing it forever. I’ve not been experimenting a whole lot with my style this year (in a good way), and when I look back at my style through the year there has been a good handful of clear favourite looks that I can’t wait to recreate in the new year. There are some great wardrobe staples and style preferences I’ve been digging this year, and I thought it would be fun to highlight these in today’s post.
…

Blazers
This is probably really predictable since it’s something I mention rather often, but gosh I just love a good blazer. Most people probably do, but the type of outfits I feel most comfortable in just always includes some kind of blazer. There’s especially one blazer that I’ve been loving all through the year; my grey wool blazer from Everlane. I wear it several times a week, and I just love it. On the contrary we have my white pinstriped blazer, that I haven’t been using all that much this year. It’s a shame because it’s a great blazer, even though it’s definitely not new anymore. So last week I took it out of my wardrobe to have a closer look at it and to figure out WHY I don’t reach for it these days. Turns out the shoulders pads had kind of balled up inside it through time which made it look weird. So I took them out and now it looks amazing again! Especially can’t wait to wear it with light blue jeans, a white tee and white sneakers during spring.
…
Light blue denim
I’m a sucker for denim, especially the light blue kind. That’s probably pretty clear when you look at these images, haha! Whether it’s a denim skirt or a pair of shorts during the summer, or just a pair of straight-leg jeans, light blue denim is my jam. Besides the light blue colour I’m also a huge fan of raw edges, which I think gives any outfit the perfect amount of contrast and edgyness. I especially love vintage Levi’s which I’ve been buying from Asos Marketplace the last few years and then usually I alter them myself, so that they fit my legs perfectly (see how I do just that in THIS video). I’ve also made my own denim skirt from a pair of old jeans. If you’re no master of the sewing machine thought there are alternatives. Re/done are probably the most hyped brand that alters secondhand Levi’s jeans into more modern fits, but you pay a rather high price for their Levi’s jeans. Urban Outfitters has their vintage range where I’ve often stumbled upon Levi’s jeans too – for example THESE. Besides that Everlane makes great, comfy jeans too and & Other Stories has a rather huge selection of jeans made in Organic Cotton. Denim is a huge sinner when it comes to pollution in the fashion industry, so there’s plenty of reasons to revise the way you consume denim, not only by choosing organic materials but also choosing a pair that you can love for years.
…
Ankle boots
My favourite boots are my Acne Jensen boots. I bought them secondhand on trendsales years ago, and I just had them fixed at my local cobbler’s recently so now they are like new again. I highly recommend that! I can use them for years to come still. I wear them with anything and for any occasion, and I especially enjoyed wearing them with dresses and shorts over the summer. It gives such a cool, festival-chic kind of look when you pair your ankle boots with bare legs, and I love it. This particular model took some time to break in, so if you’re in between 2 sizes I do recommend that you go for the larger size. Then you can always put in an extra insole to make them fit more snug around your foot. I’m in any case not over black ankle boots, and I probably never will be!
…
A pop of colour
I don’t wear a lot of colours, and I probably never will. But I do like adding a pop of colour to my wardrobe from season to season – just to give my basics a breath of fresh air. I try to go for timeless colours like brown and army during autumn/winter, and then in the summertime I tend to go for timeless pastels or a bright red. I still have people coming up to me both in person and via my social platforms wondering why I don’t wear more colours, even almost demanding me to sometimes. But what can I say – I know myself well enough to know, that (believe it or not) colours bore me quicker than the monochromes. Most colours are often trend-based and designed to “die out” at some point, whereas the monochromes will always be here. Besides I don’t miss that huge palette of colours in my wardrobe. I freaks me out more than it makes me happy, when I have too much to choose from!
…

2018 has been one crazy year – but most of all I’m so thankful for everything that has happened this year. Read more about what that is HERE, HERE and HERE. I feel so privileged to be able to do what I love most for a living, and even – most of the time – on my very own terms. I’m so excited to see what 2019 has to offer, but I’m also gonna work on being more present in the moment. I don’t know how long I will be able to keep working under these amazing, free circumstances I do now, so I’m gonna do my best to enjoy every second of it.
I also want to wrap up this year by saying thank you to all of you guys for your support, your positive, fun and empowering comments on my social platforms each and every day. I’m so happy and proud of this community that we have truly build together, and I hope to have you around for years to come. I wish you all the most wonderful Christmas wherever you are in the world and whether celebrate it or not – I will see you next year!

I agree with you about colors, I try a color and quickly get bored with it and I am just much more comfortable in neutrals, and it is very calming to look into my closet and see neutrals, plus it’s a lot easier for me to pick an outfit when I’m not trying to force myself to use a color. Thank you for all you do, you have helped me so much with my wardrobe and you are delightful to watch. I’ll be here when you are ready to post more videos next year. Enjoy your time off.
Frohe Weihnachten and a good start into 2019. Looking forward to another year with your Blog. It inspired me to have a good clear out of my Wardrobe after moving about for 14 Years. Its still a way to go but I’m on the right track and with your inspirations its easy.
Good on you for knowing your style and sticking to it.
The last Vlogmas for this year was also so inspiring. De-cluttering seems to fit with the end of the year perfectly… fresh starts etc. I’m not really sure why, but I love seeing all those half-empty drawers with all that amazing storage space you have there.
Take it easy and get well soon!
