Pros

– The capsule wardrobe is a perfect guideline for people who want tpo get in control of their style and wardrobe
– You get more favorite products into your wardrobe, because you are practicing to plan your purchases and therefore learn to save up money for the things you really want
– You learn to be more true to your personal style and avoid impulse buys
– You will probably experience fewer closet-meltdowns because you get more harmony into your wardrobe

– Du vil sandsynligvis opleve færre tøjkriser fordi du får mere harmoni i dit klædeskab

Cons

– A capsule wardrobe is “static” because you commit to a small collection of selected products over a certain period of time. It is inevitable not to feel that you are running in circles and feel a bit uninspired (paradoxically, this can provoke a few meltdowns along the way)

/ As most of you know, the capsule system is something that I have faithfully followed throughout the past year. I have learned a lot about myself, my style and not least my buying habits. I’m still very excited about this way of building a durable wardrobe – at least as a super good start if you in general want to achieve more control of you style and wardrobe. For just that, I would at any time recommend the capsule system. In the longer term, the system has shown (for me), not always to be quite as durable and realistic, I must admit that. I think it’s a fact many capsule wardrobers reach at one time or another, and the art is here not to fall completely back into the old habits and the chaos that once represented your wardrobe. But you simply get to a point where you realize that life is not static. And if you love fashion and style (which obviously is one of my biggest passions) then it is almost impossible, to maintain a static wardrobe too.

Personally, I must admit that I think it’s crazy that I’m not “permitted” to use the things I have stored away from last season if I want to, and a more fluid approach to the capsule wardrobe system seems more and more like the right thing for me. You know, maintain the approach I have now (read more here), but let the products I have stored away circulate when I think my basic wardrobe runs a little too much in circles. In the end the important thing for me is to buy less and buy wisely when you finally do it. But it should not be boring; here the desire for impulse buys and fast fashion begins to creep up on you. I think there are many women who can recognize this feeling. Boredom often equals impulse buys (at least it used to for myself), and this kind of purchase is mostly a short-lived love affair. Needless to say, that I want to do everything I can to avoid these kinds of purchases.
