My new sustainable sneakers

Sep 30, 2018 | 2 comments

Most of you probably remember my plain white sneaks and also my good old Lacoste sneakers, which I still love to use even though they are pretty worn out at this point. I believe we should all learn to see the value even in those of our possessions that are starting to look a bit worn out. Nothing will remain new; even your softest, smoothest favourite jumper will be thrown into your laundry hamper at some point and it will start to get fuzzy pillings certain places – but that does not mean it has to be replaced!  The same applies to the before mentioned sneakers of mine – even though they are older and have been used quite a lot, there’s nothing wrong with them. That’s how I look at it anyway.

A couple weeks ago I was contacted by thegreenlabels.com, which is not only a shop with full transparency when it comes to brands and their production – I also love the way it is designed graphically, and the products and brands they carry are so cool. It truly warms my heart to learn about new sustainable webshops like these, because it just makes it easier for us to consume more responsibly!

Anyway, I was offered to test out a few products from the shop and even though I – as mentioned before – didn’t necessarily need a new pair of white sneakers, I have been wanting to try out Veja for quite some time, because it is a sustainable brand I often link to on my social platforms. I believe it’s only fair that I try out the things I recommend you guys, right? I’ll probably sell one of the other older pairs because there’s no way I will get the use out of all 3 – so if any of you are interested in buying one of the pairs, send me an email! I couldn’t resist the above shown Veja sneakers because of their minimal design mixed with a rather oldschool look, and then I just love the black logo which gives the sneaks a more sporty vibe.

I’ve only worn them a few times and I have to say that they are a bit stiff, but the more I’ve used them the softer I feel like they get. I’ve also heard from you guys, that this is often the case with sneakers from this brand – that you sort of need to break them in a bit before they become soft and super comfy. The brand makes sneakers in recycled materials, natural rubber and organic cotton, all fairly traded and under ethical production.

I’ve been lucky enough to be able to share a discount code for thegreenlabels.com (they have world wide shipping btw) so with the code SIGNELOVESTGL you’ll get 15% off your next order. Besides Veja you can also get your hands on items from Armed Angels which is one of my favourite sustainable brands (I LOVE their jeans in organic cotton!).

I have always been way more into wearing boots than sneakers, but on busy days where I’m running errands and I’m all over the place taking pictures at work, it is always my sneakers I reach for. I love pairing them with a blazer and a pair of jeans, but I also find that they look really cool with a wool coat and bare ankles. You can learn about how I keep my white sneakers white in THIS blogpost.

Hi Signe! Great sneakers. I was just wondering what size your coat is? We seem to be similar in size… How warm would you say it is? And does it let the wind through?

Hi Fia :-* My coat is a EU 36. It’s slightly oversized but perfect I think! It’s not the warmest tbh, it’s fine through autumn but for witner you need a light, padded waistcoat underneath to stay warm. But again a great coat for autumn 🙂 xx
