Winter capsule 2021

Dec 12, 2021 | 0 comments

ENG: winter has definitely been approaching Denmark the last few weeks – even though we haven’t had that many days with truly freezing temperatures yet (although 2 degrees is what we call freezing in Denmark lol), we are approaching it with rapid steps and being reunited with my winter musthaves has been great. I’m of course speaking of items such as my lovely puffer from Patagonia that I bought preloved last year, my vintage fake fur that I have fallen completely in love with all over again, a handful of my favorite jumpers (including a new one in a particularly beautiful rose brown color) and then I have invested in a pair of new winter boots from Vagabond. My good old Acne Jensen boots I bought preloved almost 5 years ago, they have probably been to the cobbler 3 times, they are simply starting to look quite worn out. The sole of the boots has come off (and has been glued together) a couple times, I can still wear them for sure – but it will probably be mostly for occasions such as festivals or the like, where it doesn’t matter if they get a bit beaten. However, I’m still hooked on finding the same pair to replace them with or something similar at least with a block heel (preferably in a preloved version again), because it’s simply been such a good boot both for everyday and special occasions. Probably my most worn piece of footwear the last 5 years, actually.

Vigtigt.

ENG.: So my new boots are a little more of a practical version of a pair of good winter boots, but at the same time I think they are super stylish. It’s a bit of a hybrid between a pair of Doc Martens and a slightly more elegant boot. They have a rather chunky sole, but because the toe is more oval shaped, they appear somewhat lighter. In addition, the shaft goes up a little higher on the leg than regular ankle boots, which is super nice for winter. Especially if you (like me) love cropped jeans, and that’s actually what you have most of in your wardrobe. It’s a great way to keep your ankles warm! I’m sure they will become a favorite the next (hopefully) many winters, again because they are just a little more practical. You might want to know they are a little narrow in size. I have therefore gone up a full size. I got a pair of blisters the first few times I used them, because the heel cap is a bit stiff – but now they are absolutely perfect and there is room for a warm sock as well. Important detail.

ENG: Some of you know that in November 2021 I was trained to become a color consultant at CMB – and it has given me renewed inspiration to add more colors to my wardrobe. I would never recommend that you rush out and buy a brand new wardrobe if you go through a consultation to determine which colors suit you best, I myself discovered that I had lots of items in nice colors hidden in my storage already, which I suddenly looked at with brand new eyes. It was a pretty fun and wonderful experience! The aforementioned rose brown knit (which is new though) is a relatively basic color I think, and it’s simply just so beautiful. Every time I wear it, it just does something to my mood. And that’s exactly what colors can do! Another thing I am considering is buying a hat and a scarf in a new color that compliments me. These are items you can wear close to the face, and they have such a powerful effect on your overall appearance.

I have to admit that winter clothes are not my favorite. I’m much more into autumn and spring, where you can leave the house without being tucked away under large coats, and in general you get to be more playful with layers and details. That said, for me it’s really adding some tension to that rather boring jeans/jumper combination. Honestly, this is what I wear mostly all through winter. It’s practical, warm and comfortable. So try throwing on a blazer, a waist belt, a handful of jewelry and also think a little about doing something extra when it comes to beauty. A lovely nail polish and a tinted lip balm or lipstick are also ways to make this a basic winter outfit more exciting.

How do you guys make sure to keep your winter outfits interesting and varied?
